KidsConnect At Home
|
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Two index cards or half sheets of paper, a marker, a Bible or Bible App. WHAT YOU DO: Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE. Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities. WHAT YOU SAY: Our April Life App is Humility. A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. Let's watch a 2-minute video about what humility has to do with our faith. Show this video: WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Matthew 26:36-56 or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located. WHAT YOU SAY: Having humility—or being humble—is kind of an ‘upside down’ way to live. It’s a lot more common to put yourself first. But Jesus came and flipped that whole notion on its head. He showed what it looks to like put others first. He came to serve, not to BE served. In today's story, we'll be looking at the events that led up to the greatest example of humility: when Jesus gave His life for us on the cross. Show this video: APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES
WHAT YOU SAY: Jesus demonstrated service and humility as He washed his disciples' feet. In the garden, Jesus gave us an important lesson in humility as He prays to His Father, “Not my will, but Your will.” Jesus was soon arrested and put on trial to humbly face the darkest moments of His life. Jesus’ last interactions with His closest followers show us the importance of putting others first. Humility isn’t always our initial response, but when we choose to show humility and put others first, we get to point others to Jesus. Let's do some KidsConnect games to help us learn how showing humility can bring us closer to God. WHAT YOU DO: Open/view/download the PARENT GUIDE and do the activities together. |

CONNECT WITH OTHERS Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation! |
