MATERIALS NEEDED:
The Parent Guide page printed, oven mitts or thick gloves, a marker with a cap, a sheet of paper, a coin, a pair of scissors, a book, a piece of candy or gum in a wrapper, a Bible or Bible App.
WHAT YOU DO:
Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE.
Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities.
WHAT YOU SAY:
Our August Life App is "Creativity".
A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. And creativity is imagining what you can do because you are made in God's image.
There are so many things we can do to help others, including treating others with kindness and compassion. This month, let's keep our focus on being creative and sharing God's love in creative and amazing ways!

WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Mark 2:1-12, or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located.
WHAT YOU SAY:
We’ve had fun this month seeing God’s creativity all throughout His Big Story. From the beginning of time, God’s creativity has been on display through all the things He created—including us! This week we’re diving into a story in the New Testament, when Jesus was on the earth, going around teaching and performing miracles.
There was a man named Mark who recorded many things that happened during that time in Jesus’ life. The stories that Mark wrote are found in a book of the Bible. Any guesses which book? (Pause to let them respond.) Yep! Mark. Today’s story comes from the second chapter in the book of Mark.

APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES
WHAT YOU SAY:
Think about the creativity it took for those four men to get their friend to Jesus. They didn’t let anything stop them, because they knew Jesus could help. Because they worked together, their friend met Jesus—and sure enough, Jesus healed him!
God made each of us in His own image. And He wants us to work together to share His love with the people around us. With the creativity God gives us, we can do so much more together than we could ever do by ourselves!
The next time you see a big project, think about how you could work with others to accomplish it. Maybe, it’s helping a family in your neighborhood because the mom is really sick. You could get a few friends together to help her out by entertaining her young kids, or even doing yard work for her. Maybe, your parents want to chip in by buying her some groceries or making her dinner. If we ALL share our creativity, we can make a big difference together!
Let's do a KidsConnect activity to connect with today's Bible message.
WHAT YOU DO:
Open/view/download the PARENT GUIDE and do the activities together.

CONNECT WITH OTHERS
Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation!
