Resurrection Garden

There are many ways to create a Resurrection Garden with your family. Here are a few ideas to get you started. If you don't have a flower pot, you can use an empty yogurt cup, or a potato (as shown in one of the pictures). If you don't have grass seed, feel free to use succulents or other small plants or grasses.  Sources: www.theimaginationtree.com and www.skiesofparchment.com

Salt Dough Easter Decorations

Source:  www.designmom.com

NOTE:  These take 2 hours or longer to dry in the oven, so you'll need to plan accordingly.

Making salt dough is very easy. You only need 3 ingredients: flour, salt and water.
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup water
Stir together all three ingredients until a dough forms. Kneading the dough a couple times can help make it smoother. Roll it out to 1/4 inch thick and cut out desired shapes. Place the salt dough cutouts on parchment-covered baking sheets. Remember to make a hole using a straw or a pencil so you can hang the ornaments.  You can decorate with beads, shells, beans, popcorn kernels, or rice. Press the desired items into the dough. You can also color the dough before baking by using food coloring or liquid tempera or acrylic paint. Bake at 250F for 2 hours. Remove when they are firm to the touch. Do not let them brown. After they have cooled, you can paint them using acrylic paint.
