Season of Epiphany Activities

Epiphany, January 6th, is the official end of the 12 days of Christmas. Many Christians celebrate this day by remembering the journey of the Magi - the wise men. The Magi found their way to Jesus by following a bright star.

Epiphany is an invitation for us to follow stars, listen to dreams, and step out of what we have always known.

  • Who or what is leading you to Jesus?
  • Which stars will you follow this year and what road will you take?
  • What gifts will you offer?

The season of Epiphany ends the day before Ash Wednesday which this year is February 22. I invite you to explore your faith these next 2 months using stars as your guide!

If you would like to make stars to give to one of our Foothills members who is homebound, let me know and I will coordinate with Beth Ott at the church to make that happen.

Happy New Year and Happy Epiphany!

--Lisa Stewart, Children & Family Ministries Coordinator

How many different ways can you use stars to guide you?

Picture
As decorations all around your home as a reminder that God is with us?
  • Paper stars (used with permission)
  • Yarn-wrapped stars
  • Tissue paper stars
  • Paper lunch bag stars (actually a snowflake, but you can use it to make big stars, just don't cut out all of the snowflake holes)

As a reminder that you can be a blessing to others by cheering them up or telling them you are thankful for them?
  • Make a card to give to a friend, neighbor, relative, teacher, etc.
  • Here's a really cool "star fold card" (you don't have to use all of the fancy decorations that the instructor uses)
Contact Lisa Stewart if you would like to make cards to give to Foothills members who are home bound.

Or as a sweet treat or dessert -- a reminder that God is good?

Here's a good "no chill" rolled sugar cookie recipe you can use.

Maybe you can write a word on a star to guide you throughout the year.

Just as the Magi followed the star to Jesus, this word star can remind you to follow Jesus, too.

Here is a list of words you can choose from.
