MATERIALS NEEDED:
The Parent Guide page printed, two pieces of bread and some random food items from your fridge or cupboard, a Bible or Bible App.
WHAT YOU DO:
Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE.
Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities.
WHAT YOU SAY:
Our January Life App is "Responsibility: showing you can be trusted with what is expected of you".
A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. And by keeping our focus on Jesus this month, we will begin to realize how that can help us bring hope, peace, joy, and love to ourselves and others!

WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Ephesians 4:29, or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located.
WHAT YOU SAY:
This month we’re talking about responsibility. We’re finding out how we can put it into practice every day.
Responsibility is showing you can be trusted with what is expected of you.
When we live responsibly, we start to see the world the way God sees it. When we do what is expected of us, we also build trust with others.
Today’s story comes from the book of Ephesians in the New Testament of the Bible. It was originally a letter written by the apostle Paul.
Let's take a look at why it's important to choose your words wisely.

APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES
WHAT YOU SAY:
It’s so important for us to use our words wisely! We have a responsibility to use words that build others up and help them.
That means we need to stop and think before we speak. We need to have the courage to say we’re sorry. We need to own up to our mistakes. And if someone apologizes to us, we need to be willing to forgive them, too.
If we want to know what that looks like, just check out how Jesus spoke to people.
Jesus used words of hope and truth. He explained what was true about God in a way that people could understand. He was wise with His words, and He used them to build people up and repair their relationship with God.
We should follow Jesus’ example. When we do, other people will know that we’re responsible. They’ll know that they can trust us.
Now, let's do a KidsConnect activity to connect with today's Bible message.

CONNECT WITH OTHERS
Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation!
