(June 21)

"DIG DEEPER" ACTIVITIES

MATERIALS NEEDED:
Playdough (or paper and markers), pencils, the preteen Parent Guide page printed, a Bible or Bible App.

WHAT YOU DO:
Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE.

Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities.

WHAT YOU SAY:
Our June Life App is "Faith". A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you.
WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Acts 9:10-31, or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located.

WHAT YOU SAY:

This month we’re talking about faith. Faith is trusting in what you CAN’T see because of what you CAN see.

We can’t see God, but we CAN read about people who came before us who followed God.

Today, we get to see several examples of how knowing Jesus can help you face your fears. In today's video, watch for all of the ways that people were in fear. Also watch for the helpers in the story.

APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES

WHAT YOU SAY:

Today’s story was full of some really great examples of faith.

We saw lots of different people who had faith even though they had to face some scary situations. Like Saul, who completely changed his ways and decided to start telling people about Jesus, even though he knew the religious leaders would try to stop him.

Or like Ananias who chose to help Saul even though he had heard all of the stories about the way Saul hunted down other believers.

Or like Barnabas, who spoke up for Saul. And like the other believers who helped Saul escape.

All of these people were courageous because of their faith in Jesus.

That's why this Bible story reminds us that knowing Jesus can help us face our fears.

Saul, Ananias, Barnabas, and the others were part of a long line of believers going all the way back to the beginning. God’s Story is full of people who had faith and chose to believe in what they COULDN’T see because of what they COULD see.

You and I can have that same kind of faith. We can be part of that long line of believers, too.

When we put our faith in Jesus, we have the help of the Holy Spirit. God's Spirit can help us face our fears. Even though we can’t see God, we can trust Him and know that He’s always with us. He can give us the strength to do something that we’re scared to do.

For example, you might be afraid to tell the truth because it might get you in trouble, or you might be worried about what others might think. Or you might be afraid to give someone a second chance who hasn’t been your friend in the past. In those times, it helps to FOCUS on what you know is true. You can face your fears when you have faith!

Let's do a KidsConnect activity to remind us that knowing Jesus can help us face our fears.

CONNECT WITH OTHERS
Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation!
