KidsConnect At Home

MATERIALS NEEDED:
The Parent Guide page, two sheets of paper, items to decorate the paper (markers, colored pencils, stickers, etc.), something to write with, a Bible or Bible App.
WHAT YOU DO:
Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE.
Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities.
WHAT YOU SAY:
Our June Life App is "Confidence: learning to see yourself the way God sees you." True confidence should be build on something that lasts forever--God's never ending love for us. And nowhere is this more evident than in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. And when you put your confidence in Jesus, you can truly see yourself as God sees you.
A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. And by keeping our focus on kindness this month, we will begin to realize how important it is for us to be kind to ourselves and to others.

WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Joshua 5:13-6:20 or pull it up on a Bible app. Help kids find where the passage is located.
WHAT YOU SAY:
When we have confidence, we then have courage to try new things, we’re less likely to be worried about things, and confidence helps us get out of our shell and experience new things!
God LOVES us and He thinks we are wonderfully made. God sees us as someone who can face any challenge. When we learn to see ourselves the way God sees us, we can ‘press play’ and live every day with confidence!
I’ve got a question for you. Do you like to listen to music? (Pause for response.)
I know I do. Music can change my mood, pump me up, or calm my nerves.
Did you also know that music can be part of a Bible story?
Let’s check it out – listen for the trumpets.

APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES
WHAT YOU SAY:
We can’t always see how things will work out in God’s plan. When the Israelites looked at the city of Jericho, all they could see was a wall. A big one. They had to trust that God would do what He said He would do. It was the only way they could win and live in the land God had promised for them.
Think about what it was like for Jesus’ disciples when Jesus died on the cross. They didn’t understand what God had planned. But everything made sense later, after Jesus came back to life and explained why everything needed to happen the way it did!
Sometimes, you can only see PART of God’s plan. In those times, you have to trust, obey, and have faith. That’s the hard part—when you can’t figure it all out.
Still, keep following God and live His way. You can have confidence in that. You can trust that God’s plan is best.
Now, let's do a KidsConnect activity to connect with today's Bible message.
WHAT YOU DO:
Open/view/download the PARENT GUIDE and do the activities together.

CONNECT WITH OTHERS
Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation!
