MATERIALS NEEDED:
Whole milk, a shallow pan, food coloring, a cotton swab, dish soap, the Parent Guide page printed, a Bible or Bible App. WHAT YOU DO: Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE. Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities. WHAT YOU SAY: Our June Life App is "Faith". A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Acts 10, or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located. WHAT YOU SAY: This month we’re talking about faith. Faith is trusting in what you CAN’T see because of what you CAN see. We can’t see God, but we CAN read about people who came before us who followed God. In today's Bible message, we get to learn how the story of Peter and Cornelius shows us that the message of Jesus is for everyone. Show this video: APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES
WHAT YOU SAY: God told Peter that He should give others a chance. He wanted Peter to reach out to Cornelius and his family, even though they didn’t come from the same background. Because Peter did, Cornelius and his whole household put their faith in Jesus! If you think about it, the reason that we know about Jesus today is because someone told us. Way back at the beginning of the Bible, God promised Abraham that He would bless the entire world through Abraham’s family. Fast-forward all the way to today’s story, and we see how God showed Peter that His Story is for the world—just like He had promised to Abraham. That's why this story reminds us that knowing Jesus changes the way you see others. God wants us to love all people—even if they’re different from us. Some people might talk differently than you do. They might like different things than you do. They might even look different from you. When we know Jesus, that means we should show love to everyone around us—not just the people who are most like us. Our faith in Jesus helps us focus on others. It helps us share God’s love with everyone we meet. Let's do a KidsConnect activity to focus on how Jesus changes the way we see others.
