MATERIALS NEEDED:
Index cards (or paper), pencils, art supplies, a Bible or Bible App. WHAT YOU DO: Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE. Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities. WHAT YOU SAY: Our June Life App is "Faith". A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Hebrews 11:1 through 12:3, or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located. WHAT YOU SAY: This month we’re focusing on something really important, but it’s actually something you CAN’T see. I’m talking about faith! Faith is trusting in what you CAN’T see because of what you CAN see. How can you do that? How can you trust in something you CAN’T see? Well, it’s simpler than you might think; and we can start by taking a closer look. Our faith is sort of like binoculars. Our faith can help us see everything in our life. Faith helps us to know what to do when things get hard. Our faith reminds us that we can trust God no matter what. Listen to these words from chapter 11 verses 1 and 2 of the book of Hebrews, in the New Testament. “Faith is being sure of what we hope for. It is being sure of what we do not see. That is what the people of long ago were praised for." (NIrV) You see, faith is all about believing in things that you CAN’T see because of what you CAN see. We can’t see God, but we CAN read about people who came before us who followed God. These were men and women who faced tough times, just like you and I do. People who were hurting, scared, and sometimes overwhelmed. But they chose to follow God. Today, let's take a look at what the Book of Hebrews tells us about people who put their faith in God. WHAT YOU SAY: These early Christians believed in what they couldn’t see. They knew they were part of God’s Big Story, even though they couldn’t see the ending where God will make everything right. There will be times in our lives when it feels like we CAN’T see. There will be things we don’t understand. There will be times when we aren’t sure how it will all work out. But through all of it, we can trust Jesus and choose to have faith. Let's do a KidsConnect activity to help us learn how we can know Jesus even though we have never seen Him. WHAT YOU DO: Open/view/download the PARENT GUIDE and do the activities together. |
