KidsConnect At Home
(March 21)

"DIG DEEPER" ACTIVITIES

MATERIALS NEEDED:
The Parent Guide page, something to bake -- muffins, cake, cookies, anything that requires time to bake in order to be edible (and the required ingredients), a Bible or Bible App.

WHAT YOU DO:
Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE.

Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities.

WHAT YOU SAY:
Our March Life App is "Patience: waiting until later for what you want now".

A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. And by keeping our focus on kindness this month, we will begin to realize how important it is for us to be kind to ourselves and to others.
WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to
Genesis 25:24-34  or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located.

WHAT YOU SAY:

This month we are learning about why it’s important to be patient.

Do you know what patience means? (seek responses)  Patience is waiting until later for what you want now.

It can be tough to wait for the things you really want, so patience is something we need to practice.

I bet you have had opportunities at home to practice patience while waiting without complaining or getting angry.

When you’re hungry, but it’s not dinner time yet, you can be patient.

When you want to ask me a question, but I'm in the middle of a phone call, you can be patient.

When something happens to you that just doesn’t make any sense, you can be patient and trust that God has a bigger plan.

Like it says in our memory verse, Psalm 27:14, “Wait for the Lord. Be strong and don’t lose hope. Wait for the Lord."

We can wait for what God has planned. We can stay strong and trust that He knows best.

Today’s Bible story shows us an example of what happens when we get impatient and rush into something without thinking things through.

APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES

WHAT YOU SAY:

It’s hard to imagine being SO hungry that you’d give up something as important as a birthright. But that’s exactly what Esau did. He traded his rights of a lifetime for a meal that would fill his stomach for only a few hours.

When Esau was tired, hungry, and impatient, he gave up something that was really important and valuable. His brother Jacob ended up playing a big part as the leader of his family in God’s Big Story. As a matter of fact, Jacob was part of the family line that eventually led to Jesus!

But because Esau was impatient, he missed out on all that—even though that was originally his birthright.

What can we learn from today’s Bible story?

We can remember "if you don’t wait, it could cost you."

You might not lose your birthright like Esau did, but you could lose screen time privileges. You could miss out on doing something fun with your family. You could hurt a friendship by saying something you regret.

That’s why it’s so important to practice being patient.

Now, let's do a KidsConnect activity to connect with today's Bible message.

WHAT YOU DO:
Open/view/download the PARENT GUIDE and do the activities together.
