MATERIALS NEEDED:
The Parent Guide page, a timer, a piece of paper or paper plate for each person and something to write with, a Bible or Bible App.
WHAT YOU DO:
Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE.
Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities.
WHAT YOU SAY:
Our March Life App is "Patience: waiting until later for what you want now".
A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. And by keeping our focus on kindness this month, we will begin to realize how important it is for us to be kind to ourselves and to others.

WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Luke 2:25-35 or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located.
WHAT YOU SAY:
This month we are learning about why it’s important to be patient. And we have a baking theme to go with it!
Do you know what patience means? (seek responses) Patience is waiting until later for what you want now.
I don’t know about you, but in this pandemic, some days it is REALLY hard to not be able to do the things we want to do. I am TIRED of waiting.
It can be super-hard to wait for something when you want it, right now. That’s why you’ve got to sprinkle in some patience—all throughout your life, AND especially when you bake!
Have you ever baked something? (Pause for response.)
Let me ask this—do you just dump a bunch of ingredients in the bowl at random—like a little bit of this and a little bit of that? Or do you measure everything very carefully? (Pause for response.)
Right. It’s important to get the measurements just right when you bake—and that takes some patience!
It also takes patience to WAIT for the cake or cookies to finish baking – sometimes it takes an HOUR for a cake to bake.
And then, you have to wait for it to cool. And THAT takes 30 minutes or longer.
And then you have to wait until the cake is frosted before it’s finally ready to eat.
Whew! That’s a lot of waiting. But in the end, the waiting pays off, right? You get to eat the yummy cake!
Today’s Bible story is about a man who had to wait a very very long time ... and he wasn’t even sure who he was waiting for looked like!
Let’s watch our Bible story to find out why the man was waiting.

APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES
WHAT YOU SAY:
Simeon must have trusted God a lot . . . because he had to wait a long time to see God’s promise come true.
And sure enough, God came through in the end!
This story reminds me that no matter what you have to wait for, God is always with you. You can trust Him while you’re waiting, just like Simeon did. In fact, you can trust God no matter what!
You can trust God when you have to wait for something little—like when I tell you not to snack so you won’t spoil your dinner.
You can trust God when you’re waiting for something big—like waiting for this pandemic to end….
God will always be with you, even when you’re waiting.
That’s something we should never forget: When you have to wait, remember God is with you.
Now, let's do a KidsConnect activity to connect with today's Bible message.

CONNECT WITH OTHERS
Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation!
