MATERIALS NEEDED:
Cheerios/Fruitloops/any cereal with a hole; Pipecleaner/string/lacing cord; 2 sheets of paper; a marker; tape; a Bible or Bible App. WHAT YOU DO: Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE. Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities. WHAT YOU SAY: Our May Life App is Determination. A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Acts 2:1-41, or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located. WHAT YOU SAY: This month, we're going to see what God wants us to learn about determination -- not giving up when things get tough. Last week we learned that Jesus gave His friends, the disciples, a very important job. The job seemed impossible, but Jesus promised His friends that God would send a gift to help them accomplish their mission. This week's Bible story tells us about that gift -- the gift of the Holy Spirit. Let's take a look and see what happened. Show this video: APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES
WHAT YOU SAY: The Holy Spirit was an amazing gift to the believers. Because of the Spirit, it was possible for them to begin the great mission Jesus had given them. They were able to tell many more people about Jesus, and their work had just begun! God’s Holy Spirit is available to us, too. From the beginning, God knew we would need help to feel His love, to follow His ways, and to carry out His mission of sharing His love with the whole world, so He gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit. We never have to go alone, because He is always with us! Maybe you know someone who faced something difficult and was able to be strong because they had the support of others. When we look for the helpers, we can see the Holy Spirit at work. WE can be helpers, too! When we let God's Holy Spirit work inside us, we can have determination to keep going, especially when times are tough. God's Holy Spirit reminds us to always be looking for ways to help others. Here’s what we can remember from today's Bible story: God gives you what you need to keep going. Let's do a KidsConnect activity to help us learn how not giving up when things seem impossible can bring us closer to God. WHAT YOU DO: Open/view/download the PARENT GUIDE and do the activities together. |

CONNECT WITH OTHERS Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation! |
