MATERIALS NEEDED:
A bandana or rope with a knot in it, a deck of cards, a 12-24 piece puzzle, a timer, 2 pencils of equal length, tape, string/yarn, and one of the following candies or foods (Skittles, M&Ms, peanuts, raisins), a Bible or Bible App. WHAT YOU DO: Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE. Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities. WHAT YOU SAY: Our May Life App is Determination. A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. Let's watch a 2-minute video about what determination has to do with our faith. Show this video: WHAT YOU DO: If you have a Bible, open it to Matthew 28:16-20, Luke 24:50-53, Acts 1:1-11, or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located. WHAT YOU SAY: This month, we're going to see what God wants us to learn about determination -- not giving up when things get tough. This week's Bible story tells us about a time when Jesus told his disciples to go to a mountain in Galilee. They didn't know why Jesus asked them to go there, or what would happen once they were there, but they trusted Jesus and did what He said. Let's take a look and see what happened. Show this video: APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES
WHAT YOU SAY: Jesus had given His followers what seemed to be an impossible job. He had told them to share His story and His love with EVERY NATION across the entire world! The disciples had no idea where to start, but Jesus promised He would send a gift to help them. So they waited in Jerusalem for the Holy Spirit to come. They trusted that God would give them exactly what they needed to begin their impossible mission. Here’s the really cool part. Jesus has given US the same mission that He gave the disciples. He wants us to tell others about Him. We are all part of His Big Story. We’re continuing the work that the disciples began. And we know that God will help us keep going even when it seems impossible. Here’s what we need to remember from today's Bible story: Keep going even when it seems impossible. Let's do a KidsConnect activity to help us learn how not giving up when things seem impossible can bring us closer to God. WHAT YOU DO: Open/view/download the PARENT GUIDE and do the activities together. |

CONNECT WITH OTHERS Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation! |
