MATERIALS NEEDED:
Paper, markers, tape, a die (from a board game), index cards or paper cut into 20-30 pieces, a Bible or Bible App. WHAT YOU DO: Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE. Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities. WHAT YOU SAY: Our May Life App is Determination. A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Acts 8:26-40, or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located. WHAT YOU SAY: This month, we're going to see what God wants us to learn about determination -- not giving up when things get tough. Today, we’re picking up God’s Big Story after Jesus died, came back to life, and went to heaven, and the church was just starting to grow. Today's story is about a believer named Philip. The religious leaders were on the hunt for believers like Philip. They wanted to prevent the believers from telling anyone else about Jesus. Because of this, a lot of the believers left Jerusalem—including Philip. But everywhere they went, the believers told people about Jesus. Today, let's take a look at what the Book of Acts tells us about Philip and how he spreads the word about Jesus, even when it was challenging to do so. WHAT YOU SAY: Philip probably had some questions about why God was sending him down a desert road, but he still obeyed what God wanted him to do. The Ethiopian official had questions, too. Even though he couldn’t see the full picture of God’s Big Story, he still chose to worship God. He wasn’t afraid to ask Philip about something he was reading that he didn’t understand. God used Philip to answer the royal official’s questions, and the story of Jesus continued to spread. Their story reminds us to keep going even when you have questions. God wants us to seek Him and to come to know Him better. And there’s so much to discover! Every week here at KidsConnect, we learn something new about God by reading the Bible and asking questions together. God welcomes our questions so we can get to know Him more and more. Let's do a KidsConnect activity to help us learn how asking questions can bring us closer to God. WHAT YOU DO: Open/view/download the PARENT GUIDE and do the activities together. |

CONNECT WITH OTHERS Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation! |
