KidsConnect At Home
|
MATERIALS NEEDED:
The Parent Guide page, paper and something to write with, a Bible or Bible App.
WHAT YOU DO:
Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE.
Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities.
WHAT YOU SAY:
Our May Life App is "Commitment: making a plan and putting it into practice." When we commit to a relationship with God, we need to practice reading God's word, praying consistently, talking about God with others to learn more about God, and living out our faith every day -- not just on Sundays. It sounds like a lot, but actually all of these things can be practiced every day as we're doing our every day activities.
A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. And by keeping our focus on kindness this month, we will begin to realize how important it is for us to be kind to ourselves and to others.

WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Matthew 7:24-29 or pull it up on a Bible app. Help kids find where the passage is located.
WHAT YOU SAY:
Practicing our four skills of hearing from God, praying, talking about God with others, and living out our faith every day -- not just on Sundays -- sounds like a lot, but actually all of these things can be practiced every day as we're doing our every day activities.
Today, we’ll dive right into our first training skill – how to practice hearing from God.
Let’s check out a really famous message that Jesus once shared with His friends.
What Jesus told them also gives US an important part of our training plan. It’s something that we can follow as we learn to love God and love others every day.
Let’s check it out.

APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES
WHAT YOU SAY:
The crowds of people who listened that day were AMAZED at Jesus’ message. They could see that Jesus spoke with authority. They could tell that His words were important, and that they really needed to listen! It’s like Jesus said . . . “Everyone who hears my words and puts them into practice is like a wise man. He builds his house on the rock."
If we want to be wise and grow in our relationship with God, we need to HEAR from God. We need to take the time to read what’s in the Bible. That’s where we find the words Jesus said . . . as well as the history, stories, letters, and poetry that fit together to make up God’s Big Story.
Anyone who hears those words and puts them into practice is building their life on a strong foundation—one that will never, ever fail. Here’s what we need to remember today: Practice hearing from God.
When we hear from God, it helps us grow closer to Him. It helps us see how we can love God and love others every day. If you don’t know where to start, let's ask Ms. Lisa or one of the pastors. And we can listen to Pastor Greg and Pastor Kristie to learn how God speaks to us through the Bible, too. And of course, attending KidsConnect helps us apply what the Bible says to our lives, too.
Now, let's do a KidsConnect activity to connect with today's Bible message.
WHAT YOU DO:
Open/view/download the PARENT GUIDE and do the activities together.

CONNECT WITH OTHERS
Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation!
