KidsConnect At Home

MATERIALS NEEDED:
The Parent Guide page printed, paper and pencils/pens for each person, a Bible or Bible App.
WHAT YOU DO:
Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE.
Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities.
WHAT YOU SAY:
Our November Life App is "Gratitude". Do you know what gratitude means? (wait for responses) Gratitude means being thankful. And that we should let others know that we see how they have helped us.
A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. And being truthful is super important because people depend on us to tell the truth. And we depend on others to tell the truth. Without integrity, it's hard to trust anyone, isn't it?
This month, let's keep our focus on being truthful in what we say and do.

WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Matthew 20:1-15, or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located.
WHAT YOU SAY:
It’s tough when life just doesn’t seem fair. I totally get it.
Sometimes things happen that are totally out of our control, like this pandemic, and we feel like we’re missing out on a lot of things we can't do, right? But there is something that we CAN control, with God’s help—and that’s our attitude.
Today's Bible story shows us an example of a situation that doesn't seem fair. Let's take a look at our video and then talk about it.

APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES
WHAT YOU SAY:
The owner had promised everyone a day’s pay, and that’s exactly what he gave them. He had a right to do it that way. After all, it was his money, right?
Jesus’ story made it pretty clear: God gives his love freely to everyone. And God doesn't "pick and choose" who he loves. He loves everyone equally. Don’t look at others and think about what you DON’T have. Look at what you DO have . . . and be grateful.
Our takeaway message from today's story is, adjust your attitude.
This is a hard thing to do—even for us adults. We compare ourselves to other people. We get caught up in what we think should be fair.
But if we ask God to help us adjust our attitude and see God's blessings for what they really are, we will start to focus on those blessings and not on what someone else has or gets to do.
This week, let's try to find a way to be grateful in any situation. It’s hard sometimes, but it’s still a choice. We can CHOOSE how we react, right?
You can CHOOSE what your attitude will be.
You can decide to be thankful for what you have, instead of trying to make sure no one gets more than you.
Now, let's do a KidsConnect activity to connect with today's Bible message.

CONNECT WITH OTHERS
Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation!
