"DIG DEEPER" ACTIVITIES

MATERIALS NEEDED:
The Parent Guide page printed, paper and pencils/pens for each person, a Bible or Bible App.

WHAT YOU DO:
Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE.

Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities.

WHAT YOU SAY:
Our November Life App is "Gratitude". Do you know what gratitude means? (wait for responses) Gratitude means being thankful. And that we should let others know that we see how they have helped us.

A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. And being truthful is super important because people depend on us to tell the truth. And we depend on others to tell the truth. Without integrity, it's hard to trust anyone, isn't it?

This month, let's keep our focus on being truthful in what we say and do.
WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to
2 Samuel 6:12b-22a, or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located.

WHAT YOU SAY:

People help you out all the time, right?

Family, friends, teachers, coaches, doctors, nurses . . . the person at the drive-thru window—you get the idea. We can show our gratitude to them in lots of different ways.

Have you ever thought of dancing as a way to say thank you?

Let's take a look at our Bible story today and what dancing has to do with saying thank you.

APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES

WHAT YOU SAY:

Here’s what we need to remember from this story. David only cared about one thing: he wanted to celebrate what God had done. He was thankful for the way God had helped His people—through all the wars and battles . . . and by helping them bring the ark back where it belonged.

Michal was concerned that people would think a certain way about David. But for David, it was simple: he danced because he wanted to honor God. He was filled with gratitude to God, and he led the people to celebrate God, too.

We can do the same thing, too. We can celebrate what God has done. He has done amazing, unbelievable, miraculous things for His people—and that includes you and me!

Take some time to celebrate what God has done by writing something down and posting it on a wall in your house, or on your refrigerator, or on the bathroom mirror.

Talk about it with your family. You can also celebrate what God has done as you read the Bible . . . or listen to songs that remind you of God. Spend some time just celebrating how awesome God is!

Now, let's do a KidsConnect activity to connect with today's Bible message.

WHAT YOU DO:
Open/view/download the PARENT GUIDE and do the activities together.

CONNECT WITH OTHERS
Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation!
