KidsConnect At Home
(October 4)

"DIG DEEPER" ACTIVITIES

MATERIALS NEEDED:
The Parent Guide page printed, masking tape or painters tape, cotton ball (one per person), timer, paper, pencils/pens, crayons, a Bible or Bible App.

WHAT YOU DO:
Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE.

Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities.

WHAT YOU SAY:
Our October Life App is "Integrity". Do you know what integrity means? (wait for responses) Integrity means being truthful in whatever you say and do.

A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. And being truthful is super important because people depend on us to tell the truth. And we depend on others to tell the truth. Without integrity, it's hard to trust anyone, isn't it?

This month, let's keep our focus on being truthful in what we say and do.
WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to Daniel chapter 1,
or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located.

WHAT YOU SAY:

Today, we'll hear an example in the Bible of someone who showed integrity. That person was Daniel

You might remember Daniel as the person who was thrown into a lion’s den. That’s the same Daniel we’re talking about today. But THIS part of Daniel’s story happened many years earlier, when Daniel was young. Some people even think he was just a teenager or a young man.

Let's find out how Daniel shows integrity in today's story.

APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES

WHAT YOU SAY:

Daniel and his friends were in a tough situation! They were taken to a faraway land with people who tried to teach them all kinds of new and different things. And those things didn’t always fit with what they knew was true about God.

But Daniel and the others knew something important. They knew what it meant to live with integrity. They could have been tempted to change in order to ‘fit in.’ But instead, they chose to stay true to what they knew God wanted them to do.

We can look at Daniel and his friends as a great example of what it means to follow God.

We can also look at the way Jesus lived. Jesus ALWAYS showed integrity. He never backed down from saying and doing what He knew was right—even though it meant He had to die on the cross for us.

Our memory verse this month is Proverbs 10:9. It’s a great reminder about living with integrity: "Anyone who lives without blame walks safely. But anyone who takes a crooked path will get caught, Proverbs 10:9.” (NIrV)

That might mean NOT playing certain video games or watching certain movies, even if they look really cool or are super-popular. It might mean standing up for what’s right instead of trying to fit in.

When you live by doing and saying what you know is right, you’ll never regret it!

Now, let's do a KidsConnect activity to connect with today's Bible message.

CONNECT WITH OTHERS
Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation!
