MATERIALS NEEDED:
The Parent Guide page printed, laundry basket, balled-up socks, a surprise treat, a Bible or Bible App.
WHAT YOU DO:
Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE.
Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities.
WHAT YOU SAY:
Our September Life App is "Friendship".
A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. And friendship is using your words and actions to show others you care.
There are so many things we can do to be a friend to others, including treating others with kindness and compassion. This month, let's keep our focus on ways our friendships can help us share God's love with others.

WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to John 21:1-19, or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located.
WHAT YOU SAY:
Our Bible message today comes from the Book of John. Is that in the Old Testament or New Testament of our Bible? (wait for responses). It's in the New Testament. This story is about Jesus and his buddy, Peter. Jesus and Peter were good friends; in fact, Peter was one of Jesus’ 12 disciples. But unfortunately, something happened that COULD have been a problem in their friendship.
Has a friend ever done something that hurt your feelings? (wait for responses.) Have YOU ever been the one to hurt your FRIEND’S feelings? (wait for responses.) We don’t always mean to . . . but unfortunately, we can hurt the people who are closest to us. We might say something that we wish we hadn’t said. We might think about what WE want instead of thinking about what our friend might need. In any relationship, there are lots of ways that our hearts can get hurt.
Let's see what happens to the friendship between Peter and Jesus.

APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES
WHAT YOU SAY:
When Jesus forgave Peter, He made sure that Peter knew they would ALWAYS be friends. He didn’t let Peter’s mistake get in the way of their relationship. And sure enough, Peter went on to be one of the most important leaders in the early church!
Forgiveness is an important part of friendship. There will be times that we mess up and hurt each other’s feelings. We can remember today's Bible message when we need God's help to forgive our friends. And when we need to apologize and ask our friends to forgive us. Friends forgive one another.
It’s important for us to show love to our friends, through our words and our actions. We can be there to help each other when things get tough and we can forgive others, too.
Let's do a KidsConnect activity to connect with today's Bible message.
WHAT YOU DO:
Open/view/download the PARENT GUIDE and do the activities together.

CONNECT WITH OTHERS
Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation!
