MATERIALS NEEDED:
The Parent Guide page printed, paper, pencils/pens, crayons, a Bible or Bible App.
WHAT YOU DO:
Open/download/print the PARENT GUIDE.
Gather your family together where you can watch the Bible video and you have room to do the activities.
WHAT YOU SAY:
Our September Life App is "Friendship".
A life app is something that God wants to do IN you to change the world AROUND you. And friendship is using your words and actions to show others you care.
There are so many things we can do to be a friend to others, including treating others with kindness and compassion. This month, let's keep our focus on ways our friendships can help us share God's love with others.

WHAT YOU DO:
If you have a Bible, open it to 1 Samuel 20, or pull it up on a Bible App. Help kids find where the passage is located.
WHAT YOU SAY:
There are SO many great ways to be a friend.
You can hold the door for someone. You can let them go first. You can make them laugh. You can be there for them when they’re having a hard day.
Today, we'll look at two of the best friends in all of the Bible. Some pretty wild things happened to these two guys.
Let’s see if they were able to STAY friends through all those ups and downs.

APPLYING THE MESSAGE TO OUR LIVES
WHAT YOU SAY:
David and Jonathan went through a LOT together. But through it all, they stayed friends! God had a big plan for David, and it would have been easy for Jonathan to feel jealous of him. But Jonathan chose friendship first.
You and I can show God’s love to each other through our friendships, too. That's why our "bottom line" for today's story is: friends love one another.
Here’s the thing. If you really want to love people the way God wants you to, you need God’s help. After all, God knows us better than anyone! He loves us so much that He sent Jesus -- the BEST example of love. With God's help, we can choose to be good friends to everyone around us. We can choose to treat others the way we want to be treated.
What does love really look like? Well, the apostle Paul actually wrote about that.
[Open the Bible to 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIrV) and read] “Love is patient. Love is kind . . . It does not brag. It is not proud . . . It does not keep track of other people’s wrongs . . . It always protects. It always trusts. It always hopes. It never gives up."
That’s what love is! So, the next time you have an awesome new toy or gadget, show love by sharing it with a friend. Show love by letting your FRIEND decide what to do when you hang out together. If you have a friend who’s going through a tough time, show love by spending time with them.
Now, let's do a KidsConnect activity to connect with today's Bible message.

CONNECT WITH OTHERS
Take a photo of your family doing one of the activities and post it to our private Facebook group @ Foothills Family Ministries or ask Ms. Lisa to share it lisastewart@foothillsumc.org. Seeing pictures of other KidsConnect families doing the activities will hopefully help us feel connected during this time of physical isolation!
